I did have another post lined up for today but when I realised this was my 1000 post I changed my mind, reaching such a special number needs something Jogi related. I marked other such milestones with something Jogi related so the rule has to apply here as well. It’s doubly fitting to pick this game for such a post, firstly because Ukraine are of course in Germany’s group at Euro 2016. But also a less obvious reason, the friendly against the Ukraine was one they used to try out a few things before Euro 2012. One of those being a back three instead of four, it didn’t work out so well against the Ukraine, nor in other games they tried it. But of course it did against Italy recently. This was not a fun game to watch and I don’t just mean because of the Spanish commentary (the only copy I could get) or because of the fact they were 3-1 down at half-time. No the main reason it wasn’t fun is because it was the international debut of my least ever favourite German keeper, H96’s Ron-Robert Zieler.
