Sieg in Freiburg/Der Bundestrainer ist da

Singular Sensation

If you could have a guarantee that one, specific person was reading your blog, who would you want that person to be? Why? What do you want to say to them?

Such perfect timing. It could not be more perfect, it really couldn’t. Today is a very special day. For the first time in nineteen years SC Freiburg have beaten Bayern München, final score SCF 2 FCB 1.

Joachim Löw would no doubt be my choice anyway, but today he most definitely is. He was at today’s game and I like to think he was their lucky charm. He was there when they beat Hertha and he was there when they pulled back two against Stuttgart to get the point for the draw. There is a specific reason I would pick him today. I’d like to thank him for being at today’s game. I’d also want to ask him to treat the black t-shirt he was wearing as they did the blue sweaters at the World Cup in 2010, that is as their lucky charm. Please wear that t-shirt next Saturday when Freiburg play Hannover, whether you go the game or not, please wear that t-shirt. And not that I’ve ever seen him at a Freiburg game with Jogi, but I’m going to write it anyway, thanks for not going to the game with the replacement, he’s bad luck.

I was tempted to pick Manuel Neuer, for celebratory purposes. It’s not too often you see him beaten. But I won’t pick him, enjoying the victory is fine but there’s no need to be insufferable about it.

There is a more general reason why Jogi Löw would be my choice, there’s a few choice posts I would like him to read on here. The Sticker Lord episode for example, I would love to know what he thinks of that. And others of a similar nature. Actually I’d like both him and Hansi Flick to read some of those posts, but it said pick one person so Jogi it is.
