A man’s gotta have a code

I Walk the Line

Have you got a code you live by? What are the principles or set of values you actively apply in your life?

These are more rules than principles or values and are entirely for fun, but it was the first thing to come to mind and they amused me greatly:

Always dance with Hansi Flick.

Always have a scarf at the ready.

And always wear matching shirts.

In fact that first one would have been the title had I not remembered the Omar quote. Fun aside, I’m not sure that I do have a specific code as it were. I have rules and systems for lots of things, for all things sticker related and film related for example. But for life in general, the same things as most people I would imagine.

Being true to oneself. Doing things for the right reasons, because it’s the right thing to do and not merely the easiest or most popular opinion. Not being afraid to go your own way or to make an unpopular choice. And not feeling like you have to justify your choices to others, if you know something is right then that is enough.

It’s an interesting prompt to get at the moment because I’m reading Pay it Forward, which is about a boy who comes up with a system in which you help someone else and in return they have to help three other people and so on. I wonder what the world would be like if someone were to do that for real, or if people were just more helpful to each other in general.

  1. Ha!!! I have a funny story about a matching skirt but I have a strange sensation that I already told that story somewhere in my blog! I love your infusion of humor in a subject everyone else dealt with in a pretty obvious fashion…including myself. Judy Permalink: https://grieflessons.wordpress.com/2015/03/27/6867
