A Place to Live

A Plot of Earth

You’re given a plot of land and have the financial resources to do what you please. What’s the plan?

My fun answer, to build a top secret (well not so secret since I’m writing about it here) lab in order to clone people, a few favoured Germans of mine.

My serious and not so selfish answer, to build a place where autistic adults can live. Not the kind of supported living places the authorities build with their criteria and rules and bureaucracy. A place where people who fall between the cracks can live, the people who aren’t quite able enough to live all by themselves but who nevertheless don’t meet the often overly narrow criteria for supported living or who don’t want to live in that kind of place even if they could.  A place run by autistic people for autistic people, where everyone gets to have a voice, those who can talk and those who can’t. And those who can only talk sometimes. A place that isn’t obsessed with grouping people into “high” and “low” functioning.
