Play Lexicographer

Create a new word and explain its meaning and etymology.

This is what today’s prompt asks. I feel I may be cheating in a way, but not really since it’s his name and I’ve added a little something to it. My new word is: löwing. It means to carry out a non functional (or non functional to neuro-typicals anyway) and some times repetitive behaviour. Here we use it to refer to any kind of odd physical behaviour. Essentially it’s replaced the word stimming. I think a video can sum the reason for it’s creation better than any words can:
