Getting Seasonal

Getting Seasonal

The holiday season: can’t get enough of it, or can’t wait for it all to be over already? Has your attitude toward the end-of-year holidays changed over the years?

I’ve never been a big fan of Christmas with all the chaos and disorder it brings. Now there are fewer people around and people have started listening to me and stopped buying me things I neither need nor want, it’s not so bad. All those missed opportunities, why couldn’t people just buy me books instead of the absurdly expensive and pointless toys they got me?

That said, I still don’t get why we have to celebrate it at all, we aren’t religious after all. I don’t see why people fork out such a great deal of money and buy so much snacks and food for what is really a very short holiday. It’s weird how when you’re a child and in school, Christmas seems like a really long holiday but when you’re a grown up, not so much.

I may have gotten a great deal of terrible and unneeded gifts, but I still have some fond memories, mostly revolving around video games. I can still remember the entire Christmas I spent playing Driver on the PS1, not the main story, I never got past the first garage mission myself, just driving around the city and exploring.

I’ve made the holiday a little more German themed this year, and not just in terms of gifts, so it should be a little more fun for me. I still can’t wait for it to be over. For the normal order of things to resume. And more importantly, for the Bundesliga to return. It’s not even ended yet, the last matches are to be played this weekend and I’m already pining for it.
