Let It Be

Let It Be

A restaurant that removed your favorite item from the menu, a bad cover of a great song… Write a post about something that should’ve been left untouched, but wasn’t. Why was the original better?

Two words – Star Wars. Never should have released any kind of definitive version or whatever George Lucas and his money mad minions called it. I refuse to watch or buy it. The Star Wars trilogy was a favourite of my childhood, I won’t be  a part of its ruining. I can’t say how the original was better because I don’t know how it differs from the new version, all I can say is that there is no way possible to improve upon Star Wars, none at all. I’m not a huge fan of The Big Bang Theory but I love what Sheldon said on the subject “I intend to be disappointed in the order George Lucas intends.”

Another thing I wish was left alone, Viennese biscuits from the bakers. They were a dream, unhealthy to be sure, but irresistible.  They stopped selling them after a few months, seems not many people appreciated the delights of Austria.

Any foreign film that was ever remade in English, Insomnia, The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo and countless others. And on TV The Killing and The Bridge. American film studios, leave them alone, maybe if you released more foreign films with subtitles, American audiences would be more used to them. But in the meantime, if they have  a problem with subtitles, at worst they can watch it dubbed. At best they’ll decide to get over their ridiculous fear or dislike of subtitles and they’ll see what they’ve been missing.

  1. What pissed me off the most was that Disney basically said “f*** you” to the expanded universe that I’ve been following for years. Oh well…
